Iced lemon tea is always my favourite drink, from Hong Kong cha-chan-tang style (with lot of syrup) to pre-packed Vita’s (which is famous for the bittersweet taste). They are always on my drink menu no matter I eat out or dine in. In one of my Korean recipe books, there is this unique and prep-time-less-than-2-minute ice lemon tea menu which I tried out myself at a hot weekend in Hong Kong. It’s super easy and absolutely delicious!
This recipe book is quite inspirational for making simple and quick cafe-style dishes and drinks. I do not read it often though. 🙂
To begin, I soaked some black tea bags into these Korean cider 사이다 (left) which you can easily get from Korean marts across HK island or TST, and popped it into the fridge for about 3-6 hours. (Tried to steep the tea in 7-up or sprite but the taste is not as good as with cider.) For the tea, I tried using ceylon tea bags this time but I guess any types of black tea can do, as long as using teas with strong aroma and taste (something like English Breakfast or Earl Grey). So the lemon ice tea is pretty much done at this point…
What I do next was just pouring the coolie, fizzy cider-tea into my newly bought IKEA glass, then adding a slice of lemon and some mint leaves. Look refreshing and tempting! Gonna make again when I invite my friends over for summer parties!
